Today we’ve had a lovely day from coffee at a wine company to a light lunch at Black Jack Street.
Our first stop was for a morning latte at The Ox Wine Company in Northleach. This place had a great ethos they sold wine (obviously) by the bottle to take away, in their bar from the wine list or just pick a bottle u like from the shelf and pay corkage on top of the retail cost. A great idea we thought and the bar looked great all faced with wooden wine boxes. If we were staying at Northleach we would have been regulars but today just a latte!
For lunch we were in Cirencester and ate at The Golden Cross Inn on Black Jack Street, one of the towns historic back streets away from traffic. It was quiet when we popped in for a late lunch but still had a lovely atmosphere. I chose mushrooms with a port and stilton sauce served on a warm roll which was delicious. My other half had a fish finger sandwich, which may sound odd but we’ve noticed them a few times while away, this one was a gourmet homemade fish finger. Must be the new in food on it’s way down to the West Country! Washed down with a Ginger beer.
All that and it’s only early evening so time for a glass of wine.

IndigoDaisies is on tour and while I’m away I hope to give you snippets of my food and drink highlights.
So what better to celebrate and enjoy my Farm & Cottage Holiday (and a great win) than with my favourite champagne Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top, yummy.
We’ve also treated ourselves to some gorgeous Waitrose nibbles and treats; organic pork pate with orange marmalade, Scottish salmon smoked over pear and heather, spicy salsiccia, Italian prosciutto, sun drenched puglian tomatoes and a selection of delicious cheeses. Yummy I’m off to enjoy…
Enjoying a lovely cup of tea and delicious cup cake made by my niece. Not only looks good but tastes lovely

Tonight I have a rare evening at home on my own and it is a little treat. I’ve been for a beautiful 5.5 mile – well I did need it after the big lunch I consumed! And now… as much as I love cooking and a nice meal, I am going to enjoy a lazy and relaxing evening.

What makes life interesting is that everyone is different and this is certainly true when it comes down to food; enjoying very different tastes and flavours. The other day I got talking about some strange combinations, mainly for sandwiches, and straight away wanted to share and collect the craziest food combinations, so don’t be shy comment on this post and let me know yours!
Now my crazy collection is below but first I just had to share this TV clip from friends as it immediately sprung to mind:

Now my next article was going to be on the delicious Thai curry my lovely husband cooked on Thursday but since having a late night cheese on toast snack last night I want/need to talk about that. Of course the cheese I’m talking about here is Cheddar.
There is something lovely about cheese on toast and you can often forget what a lovely snack it is. And it was the perfect snack last night. Buttered toast with lashings of sliced cheese, a splash of Worcester sauce and then melted under the grill.
