I’m sorry for my absence over the past week, it doesn’t mean I haven’t been cooking and enjoying good food!
At the weekend we had a special party for a special person’s birthday. Held at one my favourite pubs next to the river, with fabulous views and of course great food for any celebration.
However the main focus is the cakes which were provided by Louise Headon Cakes and to say they were breath-taking is an understatement. You can see from the top photo the intricate details in the decorations which is all hand made and edible.
Creating cakes which look like this is a real talent that takes “good-looking” food to a total new level. I couldn’t believe what a work of art they were, I just wanted to look at the shapes and colours.
Well I guess you also want to know how they tasted… well as mentioned before I don’t have a big sweet tooth, we had 2 cakes, one traditional fruit cake and the other a chocolate cake. Both were moist and rich, the chocolate, well had a lovely chocolate flavour but not too sickly sweet; the fruit cake well-balanced and included the all important glacier cherries!
So I have to say if you’re after a fabulous celebration cake for a birthday, wedding, anniversary or just because you want a fabulous cake then Louise Headon Cakes is the answer.
Just to touch on the other food, the chef did an amazing job of all the food but the dressed trout was something else, cooked perfectly with the fish just sliding of the bone and looked fantastic. The prawns accompanying it delicious. And knowing the fish was line caught locally added to its appeal.
I’d also like to thank the lovely chef for the cheese and pineapple, no buffet is complete without them. Thanks for doing me extra!!
